Thank you for taking the time to look at my page to allow me the opportunity to introduce myself.
I am so delighted to be able to offer the Havening Techniques®, after having the privilege of studying with Carol Robertson here in Scotland. Therapy is about change and finding the best of you and with Havening I can help you to facilitate your goals and use it as a self-help tool to be your own therapist when we finish working together.
Havening can help you disconnect painful and distressing emotions from past memories and help you make new and stronger neural pathways for change and connections in your life for your wellbeing. I have seen the benefit to clients when they realise they have a tool to help self-regulate their emotions and build new memories to improve self-confidence and performance going forward. Clients have been reminded of their own resourcefulness using the technique and that is wonderful to see.
I am also a fully qualified counsellor/Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) having completed the SCOTACS Diploma in Counselling and Groupwork - a Cognitive Behavioural Approach, as well as the COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills course. Havening and the science behind it has expanded my knowledge and practice helping clients have increased understanding of the impact of previous distressing events on their here and now symptoms. I have found that it reinforces to clients that they don't have to remain stuck in unhelpful patterns/vicious cycles.
My practice offers a safe, non-judgemental space for us to work together. You are the expert of you and as another human being sitting beside you, we can work through whatever brings you to therapy together. I can help with anxiety disorders, low mood/depression, low self-esteem, stress, panic attacks, grief, traumatic/stressful life events, addictions, negative thinking, confidence to move forward and relaxation.
I am continually learning and adding to my therapy toolbox and I am currently increasing my knowledge of compassion focussed therapy, intergenerational and collective trauma.
I am based in Glasgow and please note that during our shared experience of COVID-19, I am working virtually. Any accessibility requirements can be discussed. I have a qualification for working with clients online which is recognised by the Association of Counselling Therapy Online (ACTO).
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), member of ACTO, have full insurance and a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) certificate for both adults and children.
My degree is in the social sciences having studied through the Open University. I work in an NHS mental health improvement team and volunteer for a local counselling charity.
I offer a brief free 20-minute introductory call by telephone so that we can establish if I would be a suitable therapist for you. We can use this time to discuss any questions you may have. Please do visit my website www.bconnectedtherapy.co.uk for further details and I look forward to meeting you.
Best wishes, Deborah
